SMG Development Group played a key role in the planning and development of the Cloverland Electric Cooperative’s cutting-edge training facility in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. With a significant capital investment from Cloverland Electric Cooperative, this facility will provide vocational training in a diverse array of high-demand fields, including lineman training, CDL certification, renewable energy technologies (such as solar, wind and hydro systems), as well as emerging sectors like cryptocurrency and AI server repair.

The facility’s curriculum is designed to address the growing need for skilled professionals in essential industries, focusing on both traditional trades and cutting-edge technologies. In partnership with local educational institutions, unions and international corporations, the facility will offer hands-on training, certifications, and career development programs tailored to regional and global workforce demands.

To support this initiative, SMG Development Group secured funding through New Market Tax Credits, Congressional Directed Spending, and Rural Utility Services financing. These strategic investments ensure that the facility remains at the forefront of workforce development, while driving long-term economic growth in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

By integrating advanced technical training with local partnerships, this project positions the Cloverland Training Facility as a key resource in preparing the next generation of professionals for critical infrastructure, renewable energy, AI technologies, and crypto industry roles.

This initiative exemplifies SMG Development Group’s commitment to driving workforce development, supporting regional innovation, and fostering sustainable economic growth through forward-thinking infrastructure projects.
